James Greene

Hailing from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire – James Greene was the first DJ to play a set at the top of one of Yorkshire’s most famous landmarks Castle Hill.  The set included his own music, re – edits and favourite progressive house tracks.

Starting out DJ’ing as a teenager, he moved to London in his late teens and began collecting and buying vinyl records from shops like Blackmarket Records and Sister Ray, then practising relentlessly at home. This led to him playing at some of London’s most famous venues including The Pickle Factory, Herbal and brick lanes iconic 93 Feet East. James also went on to host events in his hometown of Huddersfield called Contrast.

Alongside this he has also supported names including Andi Durrant, Tom Starr, Corey James and played before Radio 1’s Danny Howard for Sony Music.

As a producer he completed weekend courses at both SEM Music school in Manchester and Point Blank in London. His debut record ‘Obrigado’ a collaboration with Matt Gray was signed to Italian House Label 99 Waves, his EP and singles have been released on his own label Contrast Recordings including the record Night Time with Mert Butuner and H.O.B. He has also worked with vocalist Bryant Powell who has featured several times on world famous dutch label Protocol Recordings. James has also released records under the alias Hames with Rinse FM DJ Andy Hackney.
